It’s genuinely worrying to me how often white supremacist misogynist dudes have a weird Viking obsession. The Vikings did not agree with you. Stop dragging the Vikings into this.

Speaking as the genetic equivalent of a jar of mayonnaise smeared on plain white bread, I think it’s because unless you’re actual nobility, the Vikings are kind of the only really glorious-sounding white people from Northern Europe we have for the average modern white peasant to want to ethnically associate with. Not a lot of ethnonationalist glory to be found in dressing up like an oppressed serf tbh. Hard to drum up that white supremacy bloodlust when you remember your ancestors spent most of their time looking like the extras in Holy Grail, and only really stopped when they started murdering non-white people abroad instead.
Unfortunately I think a lot of these people take Skyrim as Historical Documents and go from there?? Like there’s a lot of Viking ‘inspired’ popular depictions that have very little resemblance to actual Vikings. And tend to be all white. And can be read to support an alt-right fundamentalist worldview.
Nope. You’re a capitalist, and capitalism runs on supply and demand. Your industry not adapting to our needs or not providing anything we need or want is part of that supply and demand equation. Previous generations didn’t “kill the chariot” industry because cars became a more viable and faster way of travel.
The “killing industries” articles are a way for these corporations to play victim and pretend that their complete uselessness in the modern age – like diamonds in jewelry – is a problem caused by consumers rather than taking responsibility for their products failing to sell for numerous reasons.

call me ignorant but i genuinely don’t understand why sports have to be split up by gender.
@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. that’s a thing you can measure. that’s a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if it’s actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. don’t do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.
