I still think sometimes about the look on John’s face when Sherlock proposed to Janine. It wasn’t one of “wow, Sherlock is more human than I thought” or wingman encouragement and cheer at his best friend potentially settling down. I read a description of it on this website once: devastation. That’s what it was.

John just looks… so happy for Sherlock. Completely normal reaction to your best friend proposing to someone that’s not you.

I am bothered you guys keep making me take these Face Journeys. They hit me in the Feels™ and make me Has a Sad™.

That’s the face of a man losing the ground beneath his feet and dying inside.

Ok, I am actually a johnlocker and have been my whole freaking life, but for the sake of idon’tevenknowanymore could this be the face of a man discovering that the man he loves his best friend has so little regard for people and their feelings that he is fake proposing just because of a case. I know I’d be horrified if a close friend was manipulating people like this and it might make me question all their motivations with me. Could that be the source of devastation?
