MASH things I’m emotional about today: how the show let men cry. And not just a singular manly tear – BJ is outright sobbing in Period of Adjustment and not because some macho fridging nonsense – he’s upset because he’s missing out on his child’s milestones, because he wants to be engaged in his child’s life enough to be there for them.
It’s little things, like Potter tearing up when Radar brings in the horse and BJ telling Radar it’s no sin to cry. Hawkeye crying because he watched his best friend die, but also wondering why he didn’t cry for anyone else he’s watched die in Korea.
yes YES
Hawkeye crying because Sydney made him remember something horrific he tried to make himself forget, TWICE. Father Mulcahy crying because he doesn’t think he’s good enough; that he has failed his charges by having a very human reaction to stress and lashing out, TWICE. Radar crying because his idol and his mentor yelled at him. Charles crying because Potter has to face the death of the last of his WWI buddies. Blake crying because he missed the birth of his son, and Radar knew and brought in a Korean woman with her newborn baby so he could hold him. Fucking EVERYONE crying at the home movies that their families sent them. God this show is AMAZING.
Again
