Emergency FtM Top Surgery Fund

dragonreine:

I live in a country where LGBT people are persecuted by law, and finding skilled doctors who are LGBT-friendly is incredibly difficult. Trans people in particular encounter extreme difficulties when seeking doctors for transitioning treatment and gender reassignment surgery.

I’ve managed to find a doctor who’s skilled and experienced at FtM top surgery (gender reassignment procedure for transgender men that creates a masculine chest), and I’ve been saving for a few years to be able to undergo the procedure.

I have been informed, however, that the doctor will be retiring soon, and it is likely that he will decide to retire early, as early as next year.

His colleagues and other known doctors in the country charge double of his fee, and he’s one of the best local surgeons when it comes to FtM surgery.

My hope is that I am able to undergo the procedure before he retires, and I’m aiming to get it done by January 2018. I’ve saved up enough to be able to pay the deposit and travelling costs (the doctor is based at a different state), but I cannot possibly afford having the surgery this year with my existing funds.

The goal is USD 2,000 by 30 November 2017. This FundRazr is to cover the rest of the medical fees, and for an overnight stay at the hospital after the surgery. Follow-ups are free of charge so no worries about that!

Every cent helps, and if you can’t contribute, it’s okay! A share/reblog would help me greatly as well!

The Story

Over
the last two months my health has deteriorated rapidly. I went from
having severe migraines on a daily basis, to now having no strength in
my right side. I can’t bend my knee without considerable effort, and now
I can’t hold a pen, or even a fork. This is frightening enough,
considering my right hand is my dominant one, but the bigger issue is
that I still don’t have a diagnosis as to what is wrong. The
possibilities run from MS, to nerve damage, to even possibly a stroke.

Walking
is difficult for me. I drag my foot, and my ankle rolls often. My knee
buckles and I crash to the floor. This happened while I was in the
hospital, and now it’s happening multiple times a day.

I need to get
support braces for my joints, especially my knee and ankle. Wrist and
finger splints will help me be able to hold a pen to be able to draw
again, as well as feed myself without spilling. I may also need a cane
for particularly bad days.

Any additional funds will go toward
transporting me to and from my many MANY doctor’s appointments as we
look for a diagnosis for what is wrong.

 If you submit
screenshots of your donation for $50.00 or more, I will write you a story
of your prompting, up to five thousand words!

This is an example of the support I’m looking for for my hand

Even if you aren’t able to support, I would appreciate it if you reblogged this to boost it and support a disabled queer NB.

I’m just 150 dollars off of my goal. Ring splints are all I need to get now. My knee brace has done wonders. I went for a walk with it on yesterday, and had no trouble at all. I keep my wrist braces in the fridge, which has confused my poor roommate.

As for what’s wrong, the opthalmologist I saw says it’s almost certainly MS. She also said that flare ups like this can last up to six months. Vision in my left eye is almost gone and it is likely the cause of my migraine spikes. I have another MRI booked for the end of the month, as well as seeing a neurologist again.

hey y’all, i’m transgender, and as much as i appreciate the ‘i stand with you’ thing that’s being passed around, if you want to make a difference, i’d way rather y’all donate 5 bucks to the transgender law center, which provides resources to make advances for transgender policies and laws. not to be bitter, while the sentiment of reblogging a flag is appreciated, it does end up feeling hollow.

Done. Took less than a minute.

I feel like I’ve been doing this a lot lately, but if you could spare a few bucks, could you please buy me a coffee? http://ko-fi.com/A4027SH

After getting this bad medical news, I have to do a lot of commuting to and from the hospital over the next little while for some pretty serious tests. And with a lumbar puncture, I don’t know if I can take the bus for that and I can’t currently afford taxis or uber until the end of the month.

If you can’t spare any change, I would appreciate it if you reblogged this.

I have to go get an MRI tomorrow morning, which will eat up the last of the money I have. I’m fine for food and other essentials, but if I need to get more tests, which is very likely, I have no way to get to and from the hospital.

Another set of tests down, goodness knows how many more to go. Hopefully I can have the bloodwork done at my doctor’s office, which is half a sneeze away from my apartment. I don’t know where I have to go to see a neurologist, though.
So. Stressed. Out.

Help Tiger Get A New Art Tablet

tiger-in-the-flightdeck:

Hi everyone, I’m opening up writing commissions so I can save up to get a new art tablet. My digital pen is cracked all through the battery casing, and the tablet itself only recognises that it’s plugged in about half the time.

My current collections of fics can be found here http://archiveofourown.org/users/tiger_in_the_flightdeck/works

My commission rates are a standard Penny A Word, meaning a thousand word ficlet would cost $10.00, and so on.

I
will write for any fandom I am familiar with, but have most experience
with Sherlock Holmes adaptations, and can write any subject that
wouldn’t be triggering for me. All you need to do is ask!

Payment method would be in USD, through PayPal, but I won’t ask for payment until the piece is finished.

If you want to help out, but don’t want a story written, I also have a Ko Fi account here http://ko-fi.com/A4027SH and of course, reblogging this will help a lot.

According to the CDC, in 10 percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch the child do it, having no idea it is happening. Drowning does not look like drowning—Dr. Pia, in an article in the Coast Guard’s On Scene magazine, described the Instinctive Drowning Response like this:

  1. “Except in rare circumstances, drowning people are physiologically unable to call out for help. The respiratory system was designed for breathing. Speech is the secondary or overlaid function. Breathing must be fulfilled before speech occurs.
  2. Drowning people’s mouths alternately sink below and reappear above the surface of the water. The mouths of drowning people are not above the surface of the water long enough for them to exhale, inhale, and call out for help. When the drowning people’s mouths are above the surface, they exhale and inhale quickly as their mouths start to sink below the surface of the water.
  3. Drowning people cannot wave for help. Nature instinctively forces them to extend their arms laterally and press down on the water’s surface. Pressing down on the surface of the water permits drowning people to leverage their bodies so they can lift their mouths out of the water to breathe.
  4. Throughout the Instinctive Drowning Response, drowning people cannot voluntarily control their arm movements. Physiologically, drowning people who are struggling on the surface of the water cannot stop drowning and perform voluntary movements such as waving for help, moving toward a rescuer, or reaching out for a piece of rescue equipment.
  5. From beginning to end of the Instinctive Drowning Response people’s bodies remain upright in the water, with no evidence of a supporting kick. Unless rescued by a trained lifeguard, these drowning people can only struggle on the surface of the water from 20 to 60 seconds before submersion occurs.”

This doesn’t mean that a person that is yelling for help and thrashing isn’t in real trouble—they are experiencing aquatic distress. Not always present before the Instinctive Drowning Response, aquatic distress doesn’t last long—but unlike true drowning, these victims can still assist in their own rescue. They can grab lifelines, throw rings, etc.

Look for these other signs of drowning when persons are in the water:

  • Head low in the water, mouth at water level
  • Head tilted back with mouth open
  • Eyes glassy and empty, unable to focus
  • Eyes closed
  • Hair over forehead or eyes
  • Not using legs—vertical
  • Hyperventilating or gasping
  • Trying to swim in a particular direction but not making headway
  • Trying to roll over on the back
  • Appear to be climbing an invisible ladder

So if a crew member falls overboard and everything looks OK—don’t be too sure. Sometimes the most common indication that someone is drowning is that they don’t look like they’re drowning. They may just look like they are treading water and looking up at the deck. One way to be sure? Ask them, “Are you all right?” If they can answer at all—they probably are. If they return a blank stare, you may have less than 30 seconds to get to them. And parents—children playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why.

BOOST FOR THE SUMMER. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

BOOST THIS PLEASE!

Also watch out for those huge rafts and floating devices in pools. I was an underwater swimmer even as a child and I’d just surface as needed, but I nearly drowned once when I got stuck under a  huge raft and couldn’ t move it far enough, fast enough and it was too heavy for me to lift. I was a really good swimmer and was out there alone after other kids had gone in. I honestly have no idea how I got out from under it in time.

GOOGLE DOCS HACK

gay-2so:

theladysyk0:

weavemama:

There is a new hack going around in gmail where someone you’ve contact or someone you don’t even know sends you a weird ass email about a google document:

image

The most common hack is from someone with a bunch of h’s….

image

If you click it…. it takes you to this google docs “sign in” page. When in reality, google doesn’t require you to put in your password to view a document if you’re already logged in.

image

One you type in your password into this scam, boom. Your account is hacked and the hacker will use your account to send more scam emails.

So yeah, DO NOT CLICK ON THIS DOCUMENT. I know this is a very busy time in the school year and students have a bunch of google docs projects and essays to do, so it’s possible some people will click it thinking it’s for school. But please, be careful and don’t click on a google docs email unless you’re 100% sure someone you know is sending you one.

Please spread this around bc I would absolutely lose my shit if this happened to me during a project and don’t want any of ya’ll to go through that.

This literally just happened to my entire campus.

heads up this isnt a gmail only thing!! my mom uses yahoo (i know, i know) and she got one that was “from” my english teacher. the yahoo account might be connected to her backup gmail somehow, idk. but anyway, this is seriously happening to a lot of people, enough that my school sent out a district-wide email about it. remember the old wisdom, kids: if it seems shady, it probably is.
