This one is pretty fucking serious. It’s not about voter fraud, it’s about shitcanning everyone’s ability and right to vote.

Instead of being elected by the people, Senators would be chosen by the State legislatures, guaranteeing that the majority party would pick Senators of their own party.

If there is a vacancy the Governor would appoint a Senator for the remainder of the term. The pick could not be changed by the legislature or the public.

State legislators can recall a Senator at any time.

.If successful, they will reverse one of the great strides toward democracy in American history: the 1913 decision to end the corrupt practice of letting state legislators barter off Senate seats in backroom deals with campaign donors and lobbyists.

It seems gerrymandering the House is not enough for Republicans who want to completely shut out opposing voices. Yet, gerrymandering does fit with a long-term plan to turn America into a permanent single-party-rule nation.

With control of 32 state legislatures, the GOP would have an easy time hand-picking fascist-conservatives to fill up the senate.

WHAT. THE FUCK

This means, as long as one party can gerrymander their statehouses, they can pick their senators too.

See, they call themselves the “silent majority” which is a lie they very much are the political minority.

Usually, the only way they’re able to win elections (whether they be national or state wide) is by dishonesty, lies, trickery, double speak, and making voting polls difficult to reach.

Pathetic.

Republicans continue to rob the poor to give to the rich. Tax cuts for millionaires, banks, and big businesses. More “trickle down economics” for everyone else.

And coincidentally, Republicans are trying to kill the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The agency that helps consumers to not get ripped off by greedy banks. Like Bank of America.

2018 Midterm elections are right around the corner. Make sure you get registered to vote. And stop banking with Donald Trump’s Bank of America. Join a credit union.

so here’s a thought: who cares if food stamp recipients test positive for drugs. we still deserve food.

this has been the single most controversial post I’ve ever made and it’s literally just saying drug users deserve food lmao

and an extension of this is that even if you honest to God think drug users don’t deserve food (which is just as fucked up as the OP is pointing out), denying people food stamps also frequently means you think their families don’t deserve food either. That is doubly fucked up.

This is VERY ENCOURAGING

But do not take this to mean it’s a sure thing!

Get out and vote democrat…remember, only by everyone who is able to vote getting out and voting can we make this forecast a reality…do not think any seat is a sure thing for the Democrats and also don’t think any seat is “Unwinnable”

There are no sure things and there are no “Unwinnable” seats…a Democrat just won in Alabama for the first time in DECADES and it was thanks to a huge number of people getting out and voting…if everyone who wants the Republican infection GONE from the House did the same then this forecast CAN be a reality!

keep in mind, people thinking that Trump would never win and not voting is exactly how he wins.

be vigilant, vote on every election you can, be involved, that’s how you can make a change

every vote counts, every. single. one.

^ All of this!

and ffs don’t ‘vote your feelings’ – we can have the debate about third party candidates sometime when there’s some wiggle room. right now we need all the non-trumpkins we can get. vote for someone who has a good chance of winning.

Flush them all

THIS!

This is the election that counts. Start educating yourself now on who will be campaigning to be your congresspeople/governor/etc.

Register to vote NOW. Don’t wait. You can do it any time.

This is the fight we need to win.  VOTE

VOTE

VOTE

Also…reminder to pay attention to all local elections and VOTE. These elected officials are the people most likely to directly impact your life in the short term.

This has to start now. Right now.

Get your birth certificates. There may be a fee or long wait times. Make sure you get a certified copy.

Make sure you have ID. Dig into your state’s laws and the whole Real ID thing, because (and sorry I can’t research this now, but pneumonia) I believe there are certain states whose driver’s licenses don’t qualify for Real ID.

Make sure you’re registered to vote. Google it. Follow the instructions for your state.

Know where your local polling place is or find out if you can vote by mail.

Vote in ALL your upcoming elections. Yes, that means the little ones for city council or dog catcher or whatever. Vote those racist, homophobic, bigots out at every level.

They’re like weeds. You can pull up every visible bit, but if you leave one tiny segment of root, they’ll just come back.

To quote Mira Grant, rise up while you can. Because the Republicans are way the hell worse than zombies.

I had a hard time believing this was true, but the resolution is on ALEC’s website, black and white…. Wow.
