“There are a lot of white women who buy into this movement, they’re just doing it in private,” said Kelly Baker, an author who specializes in gender and white extremist groups. “They’re not vocal, but they are supporters of the men in their lives who are.”
I talked to a few alt-right supporters after the Charlottesville rally. All of them gave the same explanation for the protest’s missing women: biology. There is no official alt-right platform—members are generally anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic, and see themselves as defenders of the white race. Most also maintain that there are certain characteristics inherent to each gender. Men are risk-takers, multiple alt-right supporters told me. Women are nurturers. Risk-takers belong at nationally televised protests. Nurturers don’t.
By and large, alt-right men don’t seem to be forcing these traditional gender roles on the women of their movement—the alt-right women are doing it themselves. The women share a profound disdain for the feminist movement, and are eager to claim the supportive, behind-the-scenes roles.
“As for female empowerment, there’s nothing that has made me feel more empowered in my life than supporting and being supported by a strong man,” Claudia Davenport, an alt-right activist, said in an interview with The Economist. “I think that men and women are better off when we stop fighting nature and allow our distinct identities to shine through.”
In our conversations, multiple alt-right supporters referred to the movement’s men as “protectors.”
“It’s not the role of women to protect the borders, the nation, or the family. So we do not expect this of women, nor do we find it strange that they are less represented in something that we view as an innately male occupation: guarding territory,” said Tara McCarthy, a female alt-right blogger.
the similarities between this article and the history of female nazis in hitler’s furies are chilling, i don’t know how else to describe it
A new report revealed that organizers of Saturday’s deadly white supremacist gathering in
Charlottesville used PayPal to raise funds.
In response, PayPal released a strong statement on Tuesday condemning hate
groups, outlining its Acceptable Use Policy and vowing to review PayPal
users flagged by other customers.
The report, released Tuesday by the Southern Poverty Law Center,
outlined how Saturday’s “Unite the Right” event in Charlottesville,
organized by racist and neo-Nazi hate groups like Identity Evropa,
Vanguard America and the Traditionalist Worker Party, among others,
needed PayPal to come together. Read more (8/16/17 10:15 AM)
Let me be clear, as much as I want to just respond CRY MORE, BABIES I object to the use of the word ‘doxxing’ in this case.
I have BEEN doxxed. I have been stalked online. I have had people go through my journals and my pictures to try to identify me for malicious purposes. I have had people search me on court websites to try to find the charges I filed against an ex when he stole from me, for the purposes of trying to humiliate me about an online roleplaying game. (No, really.) I’ve had people try to match up pictures of the flowers outside my synagogue and the building in the background with pictures of synagogues in the Philly area to try to fuck with my life.
So I know the kind of gut-clenching, cold down the back of your neck, hands-shaking fear that comes with being doxxed. I do. It’s happened to me more than once. It will probably happen to me again, because I’m a loud fat queer femme Jewish disabled activist, and boy does that piss people off.
But let me be clear: I was existing as a person that someone else didn’t like in those cases. I was existing as queer, I was existing as ‘someone I don’t like on a game.’ I was not showing up in public, carrying a torch, and advocating for the massacre of millions of people. When you show up in public carrying a torch, you are not being doxxed.
You are being IDENTIFIED.
i feel like this articulates the difference between doxxing, which is a violation of someone’s online privacy, and identification, which is holding citizens accountable for their public actions. i don’t think doxxing is ever ‘okay so long as you do it to bad guys’, no matter how bad you think those guys are. you have to hold on to your principles even when you’re really, really mad.
but i am all for assholes who show up in public waving torches and advocating genocide without even putting on a fucking mask having to face some fucking consequences when someone says ‘hey, that’s richard from accounting’.
I approve of knowing where all the people who publicly advocate for murder are. Just please good sweet god make sure you have the right klansman because if you don’t protect the weak even from yourself you are an asshole
Guys, the glass is the memorial. The glass has the numbers engraved on it. The glass is like the Vietnam Veterans wall of names in DC. Imagine if someone took a sledgehammer to that to break off the names. That’s what someone just did for the second time this summer.
Discord recently banned their nazi community. Let’s have Tumblr do the same. Hundreds of neo-nazi and white supremacists feel at home on Tumblr and that needs to change.
They don’t respond to reports and apparently won’t care about anything other than intense negative publicity – so this is the best we can do for now.

Following Discord’s recent shutdown of racist alt-right servers, we ask that Tumblr takes neo-nazis and other white supremacy groups more seriously instead of repeatedly ignoring reports on violent language.
I’ve reported several neo-nazi types to staff, including those who have posts like “gas the k-kes” and “kill n-gger apes” alongside nazi imagery and romanticized portraits of Hitler. This is the response I get every time.
> Hello,
> Thanks for bringing this to our attention; we really appreciate your efforts to make
> Tumblr a safer place for everyone.
> We do strongly suggest you block this user. You can find out more about how to
Tumblr staff – by ignoring the rampant and violent hate problem within their community – are providing a safe place for violent fascists and other racists to feel at home.
This specially ironic since Tumblr pretends to stand with Charlottesville victims despite actively hosting neo-nazi groups (look under the tag #fashblr).
It’s outrageous that Tumblr staff refuses to ban these hate communities, and even more insulting that they pretend to be at the forefront of social justice. We want our communities to feel safe, and that cannot continue with the large neo-nazi presence. Multiple have already died in the past few months because of this ideology.
It’s clear that Tumblr will not respond to anything except negative publicity or advertisers leaving their network. So please let them know how the Tumblr community feels by signing and sharing.
What we need to happen:
1. Take reports more seriously. Do not just ask the user to block a dangerous user.
2. Explicitly condemn this hate speech in your Terms of Service. Although it already is to an extent, staff does not seem to follow their own rules.
3. Stop giving a safe place for Nazis and white nationalists. This behavior has NO place on Tumblr and you must remove those inciting hatred and violence.
4. Assign moderators to deal with this issue internally.
Celebrating someone’s death seems like a really macabre thing to do. Like I get that people don’t like him because of how his administration dealt with the AIDS epidemic, but promoting someone’s death as a good thing doesn’t sit well with me.
during his administration, we had a problem with abuse of patients in mental healthcare facilities (asylums, but don’t call them that), and his response to it was just to shut down the entire system. he closed all public mental healthcare facilities because a few of them were mistreating patients, and all those mentally ill people suddenly found themselves homeless without the skills necessary to survive in the general populous. he’s the reason why our healthcare system is so terrible, and he’s to blame for the homelessness epidemic (i’ll get into the next reason why he’s responsible for our high homeless population in a sec). millions of people lost everything because of reagan. thousands died.
he also completely restructured our economy. from 1776 until he became president, we had an economic system like no other (look up the American School), but he removed most of the rules and regulations we had to keep the system in place because our system at the time limited accumulation of wealth. we had a built-in buffer that kept most people middle class. when he restructured our economy so he and his friends could get richer, reagan removed the safeguards that kept us out of poverty (most of the time), so now the lower echelons of society were in freefall towards homelessness. people lost their homes and businesses because the rich could do basically whatever they wanted now. superstores like wal-mart rose to prominence and pushed out small businesses because of this. our government also greatly reduced its expenditure on infrastructure. ronald reagan’s greed is why we don’t have enough trains and all our roads are falling apart.
he also expanded our already bloated military while in power. one of his slogans was “peace in strength.” his goal for our country was to get an iron grip around the rest of the world and impose our own agendas on other countries at gunpoint.
One of the first things reagan did when he came to power was to ignore the supreme court’s earlier ruling, ignore the constitution, and try to enforce a mandatory daily christian prayer time in all schools. when government workers went on strike against him and his policies, he fired 11,345 people. he put 11,345 people out of a job because they didn’t like him.
he lowered taxes for the rich, but increased taxes on the poor, contributing to the aforementioned lack of infrastructure and homelessness crisis. he also began privatising the government, which put thousands of jobs at risk and made wealthy capitalists the men who run our country. reagan is responsible for trickle down economics.
after the great depression, our government put in social programs to help people stay afloat, like universal healthcare for the elderly and disabled, basic income (the government paid people to dig ditches if they couldn’t find any other jobs. the ditches didn’t serve any purpose, but those people needed money and the government was willing to give money to anyone who worked), and food stamps. ronald reagan slashed all these programs and more, like the EPA, which made sure we were a “green” country.
as a result of these slashes, people who had been secure on government assistance programs were now having to take out loans and get into debt, which jeopardised our economy. we had a stock market crash because people were becoming too poor to buy stocks, and our national debt increased by 3 times. we went from $997 billion in debt to $2.85 trillion in 1987.
he also pushed us further into the cold war. previously, our relations with russia were cooling down a bit, but during reagan’s second term, he began actively threatening russia again. ronald reagan brought us to the brink of a nuclear war that would have killed all humans on earth.
Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher, the most hated prime minister in UK history, were close friends. he was also personal friends with Donald Trump.
Under reagan, we resumed a history of violent military imperialism in foreign countries, most notably lebanon, afghanistan, and pakistan. In lebanon, we tried to stop a revolution against an oppressive regime, and in afghanistan and pakistan, reagan ordered the CIA to train civilians and create a military force to fight russia for us. Reagan created the taliban, a militant group that even today publicly dismembers people for playing games in public. they cut off children’s hands. He also began dealing weapons with China, betraying our longstanding ally, Taiwan, destabilising politics in the pacific. Under his orders, we secretly aided african and south american military dictatorships in crushing their opposition. He assisted Ayatollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran who started the 1979 revolution, in purging political opposition from the government. in 1988 our military shot down an iranian commercial flight, killing 290 civilians.
Reagan was a Nazi sympathiser and referred to slain SS officers as “victims” of the war. just to make sure you read that right: Ronald Reagan supported the Nazis.
He declared the war on drugs, a movement that has greatly increased the disproportionate incarceration rates of african american and latino men in this country.
During Reagan’s second term, 115,000 people were diagnosed with AIDS and 70,000 died of it. Reagan did nothing to curb the spread, despite knowing that the AIDS epidemic almost exclusively affected black people and the LGBT community. when he learned how many people were dying and who they were, he laughed. he laughed at our suffering while we were dropping dead.
In short, Ronald Reagan was a wealthy, selfish, greedy, capitalistic, imperialist, racist, ableist, homophobic, genocidal, antisemitic, warmongering, backstabbing murderer. Ronald Reagan was a monster.
spicer said this shit during passover. like don’t believe for a second he made an innocent mistake, that he wasn’t aware of what he was saying.
like this is explicitly antisemitic and he clearly doesn’t understand why
he straight up doesn’t believe that German Jews were people
“he never used them on fellow Germans” the implication that german jewish ppl were somehow “not truly german” was quite literally at the core of nazi ideology, this is so incredibly mind-numbingly transparent.
By saying that he never used chemical weapons on “fellow Germans” (sean spicer’s words, not mine) he is basically saying that Jews/Romanis/gays/every other group targeted in the Holocaust weren’t German. Which is what Hitler was literally saying. He was saying that those people (even if they were German and their families had lived in Germany since…ever) weren’t German. And Sean Spicer is repeating that hateful ideology. That’s what was most offensive to me about this entire chemical weapons/Hitler saga. Not that he got the facts wrong about Nazi use of chemical weapons. That he validated and repeated Nazi ideology. Fuck this guy and this entire anti-Semitic administration.
