It’s amazing how there is a generation of people who hate Stan Lee for ???

The man, even in his early years denounced racism as a special type of evil that can’t be defeated with a bullet.

Marvel was the first mainstream comic to show a gay marriage.

And the accusations of him sexually harassing a nurse were false. and proven to be false.

The man has denounced racism and promoted tolerance and diversity for years, much more than what most people who age would have ever dared consider. Hell, he created Black Panther, the first black comic hero

But all because the man didn’t want to make Peter Parker black and bisexual he obviously is a racist and homophobe… Despite…

Luke Cage

Falcon

Storm

Spider Girl (Corazon)

Miles Morales

Moonstar

Karma

Black Panther

Shuri

Kimura

Lady Deathstrike

Echo

Jubilee

Monet St. Croix

Hulkling

America Chavez

Northstar and hosting the first gay marriage depicted in mainstream comics IN 1992 WAY BEFORE GAY MARRIAGE WAS EVEN LEGALIZED

Valkyrie

Wiccian and many others…

But y’all asses over here fucking ignoring the shit out of them like the only thing Stan Lee and Marvel ever made was Spiderman and Peter Parker all because the man doesn’t think that you should redefine established or preexisting characters. Why?

Because he believed in creating NEW characters, new characters who had their OWN personalities, who had their OWN stories, who had their OWN fans

He wanted to make new things, not redefine what already exists. He wanted to make NEW characters and stories that people could connect to. NEW characters who could stand on their own as opposed to just being “This character but now xyz.”

He wanted characters who had their own life and vibrancy to them.

Yet y’all asses fucking mad he didn’t make Peter Parker black while you ignoring the fuck out of Miles Morales. Yet y’all asses are mad he didn’t make Peter Parker bi or gay while ignoring the fact that the Marvel comic version of Deadpool and Loki are both bisexual.

Y’all fucking ignoring the POC and LGBT+ characters that exist in the Marvel universe all because you wanna be like ~~uwu 20gayteen~~

Until y’all asses start recognizing POC and LGBT+ characters THAT ALREADY EXIST you don’t get to say shit about anything else being gay.

DON’T SIT THERE AND IGNORE CANON LGBT AND POC CHARACTERS AND THEN ACT LIKE STAN LEE WAS A RACIST OR HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT

Yes I just reblogged this three times

not to like, be dramatic or overescalate meaningless internet discourse but the white gay joke of saying “i don’t like sports cuz i’m gay, i don’t like cars cuz i’m gay, i’m awkward bc i’m gay!” etc. is just an extension of bourgeois distaste for physical activity, complex machinery, and social interaction imo

the proletariat thinks cars are cool, the proletariat enjoys sports, the proletariat enjoys socializing and talking – the bourgeoisie, exemplified by white college kids thinks all of these things are beneath them, and they constantly parrot jokes disparaging people who enjoy these most basic fundamentals of proletarian life, the integration of this type of thinking in to usamerican gay culture is ugly and boring.

gay culture is like this bc gay culture is bourgeois inherently

this is the dumbest post considering gay ppl are more likely to be homeless and in poverty.

literally same argument trannies have lmao just bc you’re personally poor doesn’t mean the culture you express isn’t bourgeois

western gay culture is absolutely based on excesses and on decadence. it’s an ideology of hedonism and nihilistic actions like it’s completely rotten and useless to society at best, actively harmful at worst.

Gay men are all pleasure-obsessed death-seekers. What a groundbreaking sentiment. Homophobia dressed up in anti-imperialist language is still homophobia.

the truth remains the truth whether or not you throw tantrums

Imagine getting mad when someone tells you that a culture that ignores
or promotes terminal illnesses and societal decay is actively harmful
and should be opposed.

president reagan is that you?

That’s pretty insulting considering I don’t want people dying from entirely avoidable diseases, but when those same people refuse to police their own circles and even go as far as to uphold such suffering as a part of the identity then really not much can be done about it.

LGBT culture is inherently harmful to those in it and wider society, and creates a very toxic image of all non-hets even if a large portion of them are absolutely opposed to all the ridiculous things going on in it. I’m not a hardliner by any means but if these people refuse to act reasonably then they do not get to be treated reasonably. You reap what you sow.

holy shit reagan i really thought you were dead

“LGBT culture is inherently harmful to those in it and wider society”

The irony of a fucking weeb with an anime girl avatar complaining about degeneracy! But this is exactly what I’m talking about when it comes to the term “Red-Brown Alliance”. And this is exactly how it manifests on Tumblr: a bunch of Stalinist fascists bitching about liberal bourgeois degeneracy while furiously jerking off into each others’ sperm-soaked anime body pillows. These people really are something.

image

I have to reblog this purely for the educational opportunity here. This is a strain of fascism that I’ve not previously encountered myself.

My personal favorite thing about this argument is the idea that lgbtqia+ people are definitely bourgeois, but sports, the literally useless games we spent a truly ridiculous amount of time and money in, are not.

Like i am a sports fan but i’m also gay and please for the love of god look up how much money pro sports makes, how public schools put more money into sports than they do necessary items for teaching or paying their teachers, how sports can ruin a person’s body physically and mentally.

We spend tax dollars on this shit. People die for this shit.

On an unrelated note, @korrasera, iirc this strain of facism is based a lot on stalinist ideology. It’s been a while but i think while the US was doing the whole red scare/lavender scare thing and accusing gay ppl of being secret comminists, the USSR had criminalized homosexuality and was accusing gay people of being secret westerner fascists. It’s interesting how that works.

Ah yes, the gay affluence myth, plus victorian eugenics. Can we stop recycling classic homophobia now?

… this is literally some 40-year-old cishet propaganda dressed up with pseudo-leftist bullshit. “They deserve it because of their lifestyle” is literally what we were told in the 80s and 90s, over and over, starting with when they blamed THE GAYS for their own infections and then they started blaming THOSE DAMN BISEXUAL MEN for “causing the infection to jump to heterosexuals.” (Yes, that happened, fucking Time Magazine ran an article like that.) Just because you put the words ‘proletariat’ and ‘bourgeois’ in your homophobic bullshit doesn’t mean that it isn’t just homophobic bullshit wearing a hammer and sickle pin on its lapel.

I mean, it could be that HIV infection rates have something to do with the way that the medical industry operates in the US, with the inaccessibility of PrEP if you don’t have insurance ($1300 a month is in the same range as what we pay for our mortgage in suburban Philadelphia), with how stigmatized it still is to get tested… I mean, it could be that a combination of medical homophobia and transphobia, institutionalized serophobia, and capitalist bullshit are the actual causes of continuing HIV infections in extremely-marginalized populations among the LGBTQIPA community, but I guess it’s easier just to say “them gays is the problem, and I’m actually acceptable in saying this because I’ve dressed it up in leftist language.”

Fucking Tankies.

straight people mad at “gays only event” jokes like they dont restrict blood donations, hotels, schools, jobs, and adoption. Zzzzzzzzzz

yeah but that’s to keep blood clean you’re just tryna exclude people to be rude

Straight people aren’t doing any restrictions for blood donations because of your sexuality, they restrict donation based on your participation in anal sex regardless of orientation. That is what they ask you, they don’t ask if you’re gay they ask if you have engaged in or regularly engage in anal sex because it has a higher rate of transferring the kinds of communicable diseases they can’t accept in blood samples. So everyone, not just the gays, who fucks people in the butt is not donating blood.

Literally what the fuck are you talking about?

SO Y’ALL CAN JUST TALK WITHOUT USING LITERALLY FACTS NOW??? THAT’S REALLY COOL ZXDFCGVHBJNK

Anyway here are the real ass facts:

-It is 100% a ban on MSM blood…. Not that “its about all anal sex” bullshit…. That is how it has been since 1985 when the FDA put a ban on anyone that had “participated in MSM sexual contact since 1975″

-This regulation was changed to just a 12 month deferral which is still honestly bullshit (this includes long term relationships) Here is what the Current blood donor questionaire looks like

-What does this mean for blood donation? It means 360,000 otherwise eligible donors cannot donate. That is 615,000 pints of blood that could save the lives of 1 million people, unable to donate because of sexual orientation and/or sexual conduct (x)

-The real kicker in this ban is that the Red Cross (the leader in blood donation/blood drive) screens all blood that is donated for infectious diseases before it is admitted to blood banks (x)

-The FDA’s ban on MSM blood is doing off more harm than good. I have friends who have been put into uncomfortable and even dangerous situations because of Blood Drives, friends who have been outed because of people asking for blood donations, and even in it’s broadest sense, the Blood Ban promotes homophobia and serophobia and a deadly combination of the two.

TL;DR: Before you talk about the blood ban (whether you support it, are against it, whatever) Know what you’re saying because it affects real people in very real ways.

Imagine living in the year 2018 and thinking that blood donation restrictions on gay men are anything other than outright homophobia. The Straights are WILD!

And if they made the qualification ‘have had unprotected anal sex in the last 12 months’ if that higher risk activity is what they are really worried about, it would be a whole different population they are excluding. Like, if it is the bareback anal population you need to exclude for extra super safety despite screenings, then just ask that! Then it isn’t homophobic and I bet cuts across a lot of sexualities (though I can’t honestly say how the #s of suddenly ineligible donors would change. It might be a similar # just different people)

listen… i’m a lesbian and i know full well what oppression based on love is like… but i wish white gay folks wouldn’t act like sexuality is the only reason anyone’s ever felt that

there are people in my family who’ve been disowned because they married someone of a different colour to them… i’m mixed race and the very concept of my existence would’ve been illegal in the us when my parents were born. the supreme court only ruled against discrimination of mixed-race marriages in 1967! that’s barely 50 years ago. homophobia is an awful thing to experience and i know that from first hand experience but i’m begging you to remember that gay people aren’t the only ones being killed for who they love. please remember the struggles faced by Black and brown people when you talk about oppression. please have some solidarity with your nonwhite friends (especially your nonwhite gay friends!) when you talk about dismantling the systems that keep us alone and isolated. please remember the horrible history that is anti-miscegenation laws when you talk about equal marriage rights, because they aren’t just for white gay people.

this is okay for white people to reblog

After that ask about Marcus and how he’s got no experience with men, you got me thinking. For Marcus, everything is new. Peter, though, he’s probably had a few boyfriends and more than a few lovers before. How does that compare to dating Marcus? And how do you think his dating life/sex life was before he found a good catholic boy to settle with?

clockheartedcrocodile:

I think Peter grew up in a time and place where it was not safe to be a gay man, particularly a sexually active gay man, so any boyfriends he had would come later in life, and he’d be very paranoid about sexual safety. I imagine he’s been to a few rural gay bars in his life, chatted up his share of handsome and scruffy strangers and been chatted right back. I like to think he had a long-term partner, now ex, for a few short but good years, until societal pressure and a significant difference of opinion regarding whether to be out or not eventually broke them apart.

But as someone who keeps himself to himself, I think Peter’s dating / sex-life was pretty nonexistent for a couple years before he met Marcus, barring the occasional disappointing visit to a gay or leather bar.

(And I think he would love having a good Catholic boy to settle down with. Good Catholic boys would’ve been considered charmingly off-limits to him growing up, and now he’s got one with a leather jacket and a crooked smile and the sweetest baby-blue eyes.)

Texas State Legislature is considering passing a law that would mandate teachers to out young gay kids to their parents

At first glance, this new bill proposed by Texas Sen. Konni Burton seems harmless. Do a little digging, however, and its intention is crystal clear: The bill would require teachers to out LGBTQ students to their parents. The public knows this because Burton said as much herself.

this is so vile

God this is disgusting

NO

WHATEVER YALL FUCKING DO DONT LET THIS BILL PASS

As a closeted queer kids, the only irl place I can be myself is at school. The people there know. I’m not quiet about it. And they’re okay with it. And that takes some of the pain of being closeted from my family okay because hey I have a community that accepts me.

I wouldn’t be affected by this bill but for all the kids that are like me, that consider school a save haven, this could fuck some major shit up.

Don’t let this bill pass. Please.

Texas what the fUCK… Please don’t let this be real

DON’T LET THIS PASS!!!

Okay, this post is for everyone who is on the fence about this stupid post or needs to face the reality of it, okay? Lets get real. Story time.

So when I was freshman in high school, I knew this sweet girl. We’ll call her Hailey. She was a high b-average student, and she wanted to be a veterinarian. She had a rough life but was like a younger sister to her friends, and got along well with about everyone because of her bubbly nature. And as you probably suspect, she was gay. She found herself around sixth grade, so she established to her friends. But her friends only.

But during her freshman year, something horrible happened. One of her friend’s parents told her parents she was gay. Now what you need to know about this woman is that she didn’t do this out of any sense of cruelty. Her own son was gay, and she’d really struggled with that for awhile before accepting him and openly supporting him. And their relationship was great now.

So she wanted to tell Hailey’s parents, as a conservative parent as a gay child herself, because she felt like her reaction had been extreme, and she’d acted cruely and had wronged her child. She wanted to be there for them if they had negative reactions, and talk them through her experience.

Now Hailey, she had begged this woman not to. She had even cried over it, because she knew her parents, but this woman really thought she knew what was best and everything would be better once she no longer had to hide. And went off and told them behind Hailey’s back, without listening to her or giving her *any warning.*

And this woman said Hailey’s parents were quiet when she gave them the news. They listened to her entire story and experiences. They even asked a question or two, and said they’d talk about this with Hailey. And the woman left feeling like she’d done the right thing.

But she the furthest thing from the right thing that you can imagine. Hailey’s parents didn’t pick her up at the bus stop, so she walked home all by herself. She didn’t know she’d been outed, or anything was off. She thought her parents might just be working late.

And as she’s told me of the account afterwards: “I was happy. I’d passed that math test and I was going to ask my Dad if he might help me practice driving when I get home because I was thinking about taking Driver’s Ed. I thought it weird they weren’t returning my texts to tell me they were going to be late because we don’t live in the safest neighborhood, and they don’t like me walking alone, but I wasn’t worried. And then I got home… And then I got home and my parents were waiting for me, and I just. Knew. I just KNEW. Something about their expressions and way they stood up gave it away.”

And what happened next I was forced to believe. She told me, she just ran to the front door, but her Dad grabbed her and held her down. And as he held her down, her Mom proceeded to beat the living shit out of her.

And I’m not talking a slap across the face, or being struck with a belt. It was so bad that her screams – she was lucky enough to have run and got to the front door to be heard by a passing neighbor walking his kids home – who called the police.

But until they arrived, for minutes on minutes she was beaten by Dad and Mom. When she came back to school, she had bruises on her wrists from where she’d thrashed trying to get away from her Dad’s iron grip, and a fractured wrist. She had an ugly bruised and STITCHED forehead from where her mom’s wedding ring had gotten her, and black and bruised skin across her stomach from where she’d been repeatedly stomped on.

And you must be thinking, oh my God what horrible parents. They must have been punished harshly.

No. They spent just a single night in jail, and I still don’t know if they were later charged. Hailey was forced to leave her home. She told me no one would take her in, and never told me where she ended up having to stay.

And did I mention she was made to come to school the next day? Because she did. She tried to hide the injuries, but you really can’t hide those. Especially when you aren’t even wearing your own clothes because you weren’t allowed to go home and get them.

And I could tell you more. I could tell you how her parents wouldn’t let her back in her house to get ANY of her things. I could tell you how aunts and uncles turned her away like she was ridden with an STD.

I could tell you about how she dropped out of high school, or apparently the girl who wanted to be a veterinarian one day because she wanted to take care of sick animals and make them better tried to take her own life months later.

I could tell you that after that day, I didn’t see her again until I ran into her a YEAR later by chance. This girl VANISHED for a year. Her friends clammed up about her, like they were afraid and determined to not tell anyone where she was at any time. Ever.

So the next time you say OUTING someone couldn’t be that bad, or that making it law for a child’s safe place to out them is right or doesn’t concern you – remember Hailey. Remember the little sister-like girl who wanted to be a vet and once only seriously worried about math tests and learning to drive.

And you what? Hailey told me she still sees herself as someone lucky. Because she lives with her Grandpa now who flew down from Florida to take care of her. And she feels lucky because she still has someone, and because she’s still ALIVE.

So you remember that when they try to pass this law. You remember Hailey, and all those like her who were treated worse and aren’t here anymore. You probably know of someone. Remember people like Hailey, and protect them. Because when they say it IT ISN’T SAFE FOR THEM TO BE OUTED, believe them!!!

Because all it took was ONE person feeling obligated to out her, who didn’t believe Hailey, and before she was ready to leave home safely to cause all this.

This bill has made it to the senate but it’s still in committee, it’s close but not quite passed yet. There’s still time

PROTECT LGBTQ+ KIDS

John
took a sip of his eggnog, desperately wishing his mum hadn’t suddenly decided
to pour all the brandy down the drain last night. She probably wanted to
prevent another drunken brawl, though wasn’t that just another family tradition
at this point? He sighed heavily. At least a smidge of brandy would have dulled
the pain of listening to the giant row Da and Harry were still having. Apparently, he didn’t appreciate
her fashion sense.

Of
course, deciding to wear her ‘Dyke the Halls’ sweater to Christmas Eve service
probably wasn’t her most politic decision.

John walked outside, letting the door fall shut behind him. It
was cold and clear as he walked down to the pavement, far enough away that at
least he couldn’t hear the exact words anymore. He missed Sherlock and the coziness
of their flat keenly. Despite having a flatmate who might blow things up at any
moment, John still felt safer there. It had been years since Da had tried to
land a blow on any of them, but he was still a sight when he was mad and it
brought back too may uncomfortable memories in this house.

He wondered how Sherlock was faring. Mrs. Hudson had left some
of Sherlock’s favorite biscuits on a plate by his microscope, but John realized
he hadn’t left anything. Maybe they’d do a little something when he got home.
Not that Sherlock celebrated. Was Sherlock even home, or had Mycroft convinced
him to come to the country cottage after all? In all likelihood he was puttering
around Baker Street alone.

John smiled, as he recalled a dream from the night before. Sherlock
had been analyzing Christmas decor like Jack Skellington in Nightmare Before
Christmas. The more he imagined Sherlock bent over his microscope looking at
holly sprigs and running experiments on powdered ornament glass, the more
tickled he got, until he was giggling like loon. God, he missed that
madman.

The door slammed behind him
and Harry grabbed his glass and drained it. “Damn. You out here sounding mad
as a hatter I thought you’d found a nip of something.”

“No such luck. Mum.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Has Da simmered down yet?”

“Nope. I’m still queer.”

John snorted a strangled sort
of chuckle without much mirth. If his increasingly frequent thoughts about
Sherlock these past weeks meant anything, he might be too. He still liked
women. Always had. But something niggling in the back of his mind told him it
wasn’t just women.
It wasn’t often that a bloke caught his attention, but it had been easy to
ignore before. But now? He had stopped dating months ago. Unfortunately,
Sherlock didn’t feel things that way. Maybe at all, maybe just about him. He
took a deep breath and said, “Me, too.”

Harry looked up, eyes wide
for a second before they narrowed again. “I knew it! You’re shagging him aren’t
you.”

John blushed and muttered, “In
my dreams” before he could stop himself.

He figured she’d be angry,
with her taking the brunt of the fighting ever since their parents had caught
her having more than a sleepover with Sally Jane when they were 16. Instead she
just fixed him with a look which softened into such sympathy he nearly teared
up as she laid a hand on his arm and said, “Oh, John. Does he know?”

“I figure he must. He’s
Sherlock. But then, maybe not. Emotions aren’t really his area.”

“You should tell him. Clara
dated that bloke from chem class and I thought she’d never like me. We wasted a
year dancing around each other because she thought I was one of those lesbians
that wouldn’t go with a girl who liked guys too and I,” she laughed in self deprecation,
“I forgot both was an option so I didn’t ask her out after they broke up. Then
she snogged a girl at my end of term party and that was that. You never know if
you don’t ask.”

John sighed. Maybe she was
right. There was that first night, but they barely knew each other then and
John hadn’t been trying to hit on him. Not consciously. Anyway, that was a long
time ago.

“Don’t bollocks it up like I
did. One of us should get to be happy.”

Harry rarely admitted fault
for their break up, but it was definitely her drinking that pushed a wedge
between them. She and Clara had been so happy until Harry lost her job and
befriended the bottle again. They tried getting help, but Harry had to lose the
one thing she loved before she was willing to crawl out again.

John squeezed her hand. “I’m
not sure happy is a Watson trait.”

She shook her head. “Maybe
not, but you deserve it.“

“Thanks, Harry.”

“Happy Christmas, John.”

“Happy Christmas, Harry.”

the-transfeminine-mystique:

I’ve seen these posts saying, in the words of one of them, “If your job requires you to go against your religious beliefs then perhaps it is time to change careers?” in reference to healthcare workers and government employees who want to deny services to lgbt ppl or others whom they condemn, and i just feel like those posts don’t attempt to understand internal logics at all

like, fundamentalist christian doctors don’t deny trans people medical care because they believe that somebody should provide the care but they just don’t want to be the one to do it. they deny the care because they don’t believe the person should receive care. Their refusal to provide care isn’t just “oops you’re in the wrong field,” as if they were a person with a peanut allergy working in a peanut factory. It is an intentional and calculated part of why they are in the field in the first place — to extend religious control and condemnation to the medical realm.

the pediatrician who spent an entire consultation telling one of my friends at 16 or 17 that he would go to hell if he kept choosing to be gay wasn’t just “not cut out for the job,” he was specifically in that job in order to do that particular thing. Kim Davis didn’t deny the gay couple a marriage license because she couldn’t personally do it, she denied them a marriage license because she thought that people like them should not get marriage licenses and that a clerk should deny them and by god she was going to be that clerk

Saying “if you can’t provide services then why are you in that job!!!” to fundamentalist christians almost always misses the point — that they are in that job specifically so they can selectively deny service
