This idea is so brilliant that I’m stealing it.

@conversationswithjohnlock  has offered to bid on behalf of someone in the Sherlock fandom who doesn’t have the funds to bid in the @fandomtrumpshate auction.  I would like to do the same.

So here’s how it works:  

If you would like to bid, but are unable to do so, send me an ask or a message. On Saturday, January 13 at about 7:00 p.m PST, I will choose one person at random.  I will contact that person (keep your lines of communication open!) That person will place a bid for any Sherlock-related fic or art or whatever, and  I will cover that bid up to a total of $50.

I won’t tell anyone who you are except the FTH people, who will need to see my proof of donation.

I know that $50 isn’t a lot, but there’re still creators with no bids at all.

@conversationswithjohnlock , I hope you don’t mind, but I see this as a win for absolutely everybody.

As of now (Friday evening) I have had no takers on this offer, in case you were considering it.

Tips for Searching the Offerings Blog

Did you know that you can combine tags?

Check our tag page to find the tags for the fandom and/or type of fanwork you’re looking for, then to combine them, change the /tagged/ in the url to /search/ and put the tags behind it with a + in between them.

So, for example, this will show you all the people who will beta read for any fandom, and here are all the offers for Harry Potter fanart.

Or maybe you’re hoping for a Supernatural/MCU crossover fic? We can’t promise anything, but looking at everyone who’s offering fic for both fandoms might help.

Plus, when you use /search/ instead of /tagged/, you can search for things not in the tags – for example, we don’t tag for pairings, but here are all the auctions that contain the word “Destiel”. (Obviously many people are willing to write about topics they don’t specifically mention, and there are some limitations to what this search finds, but it might be a good starting point.)

There are still plenty of auctions out there with no bids yet, so hopefully this will help you find the perfect auction to bid on!
