Body posi sunday submission!! I’ve wanted to submit for such a long time but I never had a nice photo… Until today!
My bun took this pic after I turned on the voice recognition on my phone 😂 He would say “Capture” whenever he thought I looked cute as I lazed around. I’ve never felt so comfortable with my body and happy as when I’m with him 💕💕

Is it just me or is the “body positive” movement not working? Like at all?
Other people have said this before/better, but the problem was presenting all women as beautiful as opposed to eliminating the need for women to be beautiful
It’s not working because the focus is STILL on trying to view yourself as attractive no matter how you look, instead of (as stated above) eliminating the need to feel “attractive.“
The body positive movement SHOULD be focused on bodily autonomy and taking care of your health. The best way to be “positive” toward your body is to treat it well, not by repeating some “I am beautiful” mantra over and over. You don’t have to be pretty. You don’t have to see yourself as pretty. Others don’t have to see you as pretty. PRETTY IS NOT IMPORTANT. Pretty is not your worth. You exist for you, not for anyone else’s gaze.
Concept: make more chubby characters who are not the butt of jokes or there to supply a token character
Concept: make more chubby characters who don’t become thin as part of their character development.
Concept: make chubby characters who love themselves as they are and refuse to change whatsoever
Make chubby characters that can walk and talk without getting winded and don’t complain about being hungry all the time
Make chubby characters who are the romantic lead of the story instead of the bff of the thin romantic lead.

Okay something that’s been on my mind about Moana.
I can’t name another film that romanticizes and older woman like this one. Grandma Tala was not just a wise old lady, she was a rounded character. She was lively and wasn’t confined in her actions to stay graceful. Her face was expressive, she was allowed to make funny faces and be a comic relief. She was just as much of the “rebellious princess” as Moana herself.
And better yet, she was wearing clothes that didn’t entirely cover her up. They exposed her back and limbs, and even animated her under-arm flab. She, and her age, were celebrated rather than diminished. I mean really, when’s the last time you saw an old lady with exposed skin, large/unapologetic tattoos, who had a bechdel-passing relationship with her granddaughter that glorified the unique bond between two women?
