Under the new system, in-person visits are no longer allowed.
Instead, all visits now must be done by video, either from a smartphone,
computer, or at an offsite location.
The pamphlet, published by Securus Technology, makes using a video feed to talk to your loved one seem appealing. It says:
“Do you want to see your loved one more often? Stop missing out on:
• Watching your favorite TV show. • Singing Happy Birthday. • Reading a bedtime story … Never miss another moment.”
Under the new system, each video visit made from home costs $12.99 for 20 minutes. In-person visits used to be free.
This shift also raises a legal question: is in-person visitation an inmate’s legal right?
Video technology run by Securus and other companies is now used in hundreds of correctional facilities across the country…
Gary York, a retired Florida prison inspector who writes about video
visitation, says his experience supports those findings. He says that
over the past five years, most jails in his state have turned to using
only video visitation and stopped in-person visitation.
Indeed, according to the Prison Policy Initiative’s data, 74% of US
correctional facilities that implement video calling end up either
reducing in-person visits, or eliminating them altogether.
A friend of mine posted this. Reblog to save a life!
goodrx.com will find the cheapest pharmacies in your area for your prescriptions and offers a discount program at no cost for some pharmacies (some don’t require the prescription to be cheaper at that pharmacy, it will provide a link to the discount card if it’s needed to get the cheaper price).
obviously not applicable to here but reblogging for americans because your health care system gives me second hand anxiety for all of you
GUESS WHOSE GETTING THEIR ABUTEROL!
Goodrx is pretty much solely responsible for me being able to initially try triptans for my migraines, since at the time my insurance didn’t cover them.
I use goodrx for my dog’s seizure medications, it’s a lifesaver, if I didn’t I would be playing $150 a month, when it’s reduced to about $70 a month
Reblogging for my American followers.
I know the pain guys. I paid $70 (R700) for 30 capsules for my grans inhaler. If I got the full perscription (60) I would have paid $120 (R1200 😐). With a full comprehensive medical aid.(We ended up taking the capsules back because They were the wrong ones. Paid $12.50 for the proper meds. *rolls eyes aggressively*)
They refused to pay for life bettering meds because it was much too expensive for them. I wish we had a Costco.
Not sure if it’s only USA specific but there’s also a website and app called Blink Health, and there may be others just like it, where you pay them at a reduced rate for your meds and then they have a deal where they pay your pharmacy, if your pharmacy works with them. The process can be a little involved but worth it. It’s how I got my prescriptions from April to October this year, until CVS decided they didn’t want to work with Blink Health anymore. So glad I have insurance again as of December 1st!
Working off of the labor of others, only there because of being born into capital and pre-existing familial or business relations? Yep
them poor poor rich people complaining NONSTOP that other people want to be paid enough to stay alive, and its slightly interfering with their efforts to buy a fifth gold yaht
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet providers like Comcast & Verizon should not control what we see and do online. In 2015, startups, Internet freedom groups, and 3.7 million commenters won strong net neutrality rules from the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC). The rules prohibit Internet providers from blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization—"fast lanes" for sites that pay, and slow lanes for everyone else.
John Oliver on the danger of ending net neutrality:
Please guys, don’t ignore this stuff. This will negatively affect everyone and we need to stop it.
Prepare to be annoyed by me because I’ll never stop reposting about this until something is done
I hate diverging into reality on here. But this will end the internet as we know it. Its one thing you should hate if you’re left or right wing. Its not about promoting business. Its corporate greed. 3 big telecom companies gaining control of everything.
So call your senators. And your representative. Tell them to make net neutrality law. Then call them the next day. And then the day after. And keep calling every single day. Fax them. Email them. Best yet show up at their offices in person. At town halls. At public appearances. Do not let up.
These immigrants victims have one thing in common– they’re immigrants of color. You don’t see ICE doing any of this racist bullshit towards white immigrants. Keep in mind all of these people have clean records. ICE agents see black/brown skin and automatically assume they’re a threat. It’s sad how some immigrants aren’t allowed to live their normal lives because they fear high authority scumbags like this. Anyone who defends this shit has no sense of humanity. None.
That… I…
Fucking…
There.is no saving America
Boost this shit. Boost it right now. Because this is not okay under any circumstances.
It really does get worst tho. I’ve made posts about this in the past but people never really wonder where these immigrants go once ICE “detains” them. Well, they go to these horrific detention centers, some even worse than prisons depending on the area. Depending on the detention center, detained immigrants can be deprived of food, clean water, sanitary products, and medical attention. There have also bee number cases of physical and sexual abuse from the officers. There have actually been more than 33,000 complaintsregarding sexual abuse in these detention centers and only 570 have been investigated.
So it gets a lot worse after they get arrested, and keep in mind a lot of these people have clean record. According to ICE, trying to start a better life in America is a crime. “Land of the free” my ass.
fucking blow us up now, we deserve it, this country is shit
