every state secedes 2k18

@cwnannwn Woaaaaah

Update, because this is entertaining the hell out of me and is actually GOOD news in this whole disaster.

As of end of day, June 1, the following states have joined:

  • Massachusetts
  • Oregon
  • Colorado
  • Hawaii
  • Connecticut
  • Virginia
  • Rhode Island

According to Wikipedia,
these ten member states combined make up 30.1% of the US
population, 35.3% of US GDP, and 17.8% of U.S. carbon dioxide emissions.

61 mayors and counting have also joined in (I told you voting for mayors is important). A few of the many highlights:

  • New York City
  • Los Angeles, CA
  • Chicago, IL
  • Boston, MA
  • Houston, TX
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • New Orleans, LA
  • Orlando, FL
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Washington DC

Elon Musk and Disney’s Bob Iger have quit Trump’s advisory council over it.

And that is why Trudeau was specifying the US federal government.

Edit 6/2/17: Vermont has also joined the Climate Alliance, in a move that surprises absolutely no one who lives here. We’re all about that green energy and there’s a solar field close to where I live. 😀

Call your representatives and tell them you want your state to join the Climate Alliance, too. Let’s get this nationwide and do what Trump won’t—protect our planet, not just the United States, for all future generations.

Congress Just Ignored Trump And Boosted America’s Science Funding

Here are the highlights:

  • The National Institute of Health (NIH) has had its spending increase by $2 billion to a total of $34 billion. Trump requested this to be cut.
  • NASA has been granted $19.7 billion in funding, an increase even on what Obama requested. Of this, $5.8 billion is set aside for science research, including $1.9 billion for the Earth Sciences – something Trump officials said they wanted completely defunded.
  • $37 million has been given to NASA’s STEM programs and outreach, with $100 million total going towards educational programs, something Trump also wished, and still wishes, to cut by 2018.
  • The National Science Foundation (NSF), the largest federal fund for science and academia, has been given $7.5 billion, a slight increase from 2016’s budget.
  • The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has been given $1.09 billion, a slight increase from 2016. Trump wanted to cut this by 10 percent.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which faced a 31 percent cut by this year or the next, has only had its funding cut by 1 percent.
  • The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has been given $3.5 billion
  • Renewable energies and clean energy research funding have been boosted by $17 million.

THIS MAKES ME SO DELIRIOUSLY HAPPY 😀

Want to take immediate revenge on House Republicans who voted to destroy health care? Here’s how

Contributing to oppositional nominee funds for 24 vulnerable Republican representatives is a way to get them good and scared now, so they won’t try any more shenangians.

Contributing to oppositional nominee funds for 24 vulnerable Republican representatives is a way to get them good and scared now, so they won’t try any more shenangians.

This is so incredibly important, because they’ll be looking at fundraising, and so will the Senate.

These 217 House Republicans didn’t just tie themselves to a cruel and vindictive bill. They did it to prop up the most widely-despised president in the history of the country. They deserve to be destroyed, and they must be an example to anyone else who would take the same cruel and harmful actions in the future.

Yes.

Want to take immediate revenge on House Republicans who voted to destroy health care? Here’s how

House Republicans just passed Trumpcare. So what’s next?

Some of the things this bill does, aside from repealing ObamaCare:

  1. Only covers 5% of people with pre-existing conditions.
  2. Exempts Congress from the worst parts of this bill, though they say they’ll fix that.
  3. Lets insurers once again put annual and lifetime limits on coverage for people with employer plans, effectively ends Medicaid expansion, leaves gaps in benefits, threatens Medicaid home- and community-based services for people with disabilities, and more.

The bill goes on to the Senate, where many are saying it’s dead on arrival. Regardless, we need to send a message to House Republicans that they’ll pay for their “YES” votes by losing their seats. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Use Contacting Congress to find out who represents you in the House.
  2. If your representative voted “YES” [here’s the list]: Use Contacting Congress to call their office and tell them you disapprove of their vote.
  3. Whether your representative voted yes or not, do the following:
  4. Donate to SwingLeft’s campaign to raise funds for Democratic challengers to the 35 swing district Republicans who voted for TrumpCare.
  5. Use Town Hall Project to find out if your representative is holding a town hall during recess. So far, only 6 of the 217 are.
  6. Sign up to volunteer for SwingLeft and/or check out Indivisible Guide for more actions for you to take.

After you’ve done that, you can contact your Senators. Use the same website listed first above (Contacting Congress) to find your two Senators. Give them a call, show up at their town halls, and donate to their Democratic opponents if they indicate that they’ll vote for TrumpCare.

The only way we’re going to take down this bill is if we keep the pressure on the GOP and let them know that voting for it will result in them losing their seats.

  1. Find out if you’re registered to vote. If not, find out how to.
  2. Here are some answers to some questions you might have about registering.
  3. Student voters: This is for you.
  4. What to bring with you to the polls.
  5. Click here for more voting information, and to find out who’s going to be on your next ballot.

Trump started an anti-immigrant hotline. People are trolling it with tales of aliens.

  • On Wednesday, Trump administration launched the Victims of Immigrant Crime Engagement Office
  • With the launch of VOICE also came the opening of VOICE’s official hotline, which fields calls from those who allege they are the victim of a crime carried out by a immigrant.
  • According to BuzzFeed, since the hotline’s launch, the phone lines have been tied up with calls about undocumented aliens — from outer space.
  • Given that the launch of the hotline coincided with Alien Day, people put two and two together and launched a plan to inundate the hotline with stories of alien abductions. Read more (4/27/17 10 AM)

I love how activists are fucking with this supremely racist idea.

Don’t forget that the Nazis set up similar programs encouraging people to report alleged crimes by Jews.

Trump is a fucking racist and a vulgar affront to everything that is good about America.
