Hugs: Just don’t attack from behind because I startle easily!!!! I know lots of people laugh off being startled, but it can actually result in full blow panic attacks for me. I DON’T KNOW WHY. IT’S A WEIRD THING I DO. But it’s more like if you hid and purposefully scared me that that happens, rather than attacking with a hug.
If I already know you and you see me just throw your arms out. If I don’t know you, go “I’m so and so” and then throw your arms out. I am a HUGE hugger.
However. I have some pain conditions, soPLEASE DO NOT SQUEEZE ME HARD.

Anything else?: I am partially deaf in my right ear and have a prosthesis in it. What this means for you: I have a very hard time hearing in crowded/loud spaces. I am NOT IGNORING YOU. Touch my arm, make sure I am looking at you. You may have to repeat yourself. There is the possibility if it’s loud enough, you may have to text me even if you are standing next to me. Or we may have to step outside the loud space.
If you’ve followed my blog for any time at all, you also know that I am the most migraineyiest of migrainey people on the planet. If I suddenly bail on you, this doesn’t mean you can’t follow me! It means I’m having to retreat to a quieter place. Often, because my migraines are chronic, it doesn’t always follow that I have to have total dark and quiet. I just might have to have quieter and/or darker. Things are much better these days, but hey! Things happen.
I’ll be up front if I’m bolting to be alone, alone. I’ll be like “Okay, I have to go lie down in the dark and not move” instead of “okay, we have to go some place quieter because my head hurts.”

What’s funny about this is, to me, both you guys are the “cool kids.” I feel like wherever you guys go, that’s where the party’s at. That’s where the hilarious conversation about smutty fandom stuff is at. That’s where the unforgettable con moments are happening. And anytime you decide that, of all the things that you could be doing at this con, you’d like to hang out with/talk to *me*, that is, like, a ridiculous honor.
There are several more 221B regulars about whom I feel the same way. I just want to let you know that, despite how awkward you may feel, to me, being in a group with you in it would carry some prestige.
So I realize that nobody invited me to this conversation, but it’s worth adding that I feel that way about all three of you. Seriously, the number of “but am I cool enough to join the CAH game” feels or “omg Songlin is in the suite she’s maybe might gonna stay for the reading221b discussion we are gonna be a LEGIT OFFICIAL COOL PERSON EVENT oh never mind she is leaving aw nuts”
and I mean, to be clear: the people I usually hang with at 221bcon are some of my favorite people in the entire world, so zero regrets there. I guess it’s typical (and, you know, better) to feel sad about the time you missed with some people, while still being happy about the time you got with others. so I am reblogging to add that totally cliched thing BUT ALSO to say that I really wish I had gotten to spend more time with each of the three of you, and not only because you are much cooler than I am, but also maybe a little bit because of that,
I love the idea of adopt me buttons. It was my first con. I was so happy to be there and had a lot of fun, but definitely had moments of ‘I’m not nearly cool enough’ and ‘how do I socialize?’ (also everyone on this post already are my ‘cool kids’)
