None of my boxers are clean. I can’t fathom the idea of a bra today, but my binder is going to be hot as balls and might weird out the folks we are visiting.
What is ‘late in a fandom’? It’s after the first heady flush of media excitement. Six months after the standalone movie or book comes out, a year or more after the series ends.
We get inspired by late canon: the behind-the-scenes book, the deleted scenes, a revealing creator interview. We get inspired by fanon and meta. We get talking to that one – one! – person who likes our ideas.
Sometimes a fic even needs to be written late in the fandom. After thinking and creative ferment, worldbuilding and character development. ‘Late to the fandom’ is a good time to take risks. To do the dark AU, focus on the minor character from stage left. It’s also a good time to offer up tropetastic fun.
Whatever you do, you will get readers who appreciate that you are writing. Because for every writer considering writing ‘late’ there’s a hundred fandom members wanting some fresh content.
Writing a fic ‘late’ in a fandom is OK.
Thank the old gods and new for those still writing (or just starting to write!) late in fandoms (looking at you, BBC Sherlock fandom). It’s not only okay, it’s life-giving and we love you for it and hope you NEVER STOP.
And a special shout-out to those who wrote fantastic fic years ago and still respond to comments on AO3 by those of us who are always late to the party (even if you don’t necessarily write in that fandom anymore)! You also are giving me life!
I love everything about this. I’ve been in Sherlock fandom since the first hiatus but I only started writing fic after S4 and worried a tiny bit that I was too late. Nope, I wasn’t. Fandom might look a bit different these days, but we’re still here and still enthusiastic for new stories and that’s been so encouraging. Sometimes I wish I had done this earlier, but for me it’s been better late than never!
I wandered into Supernatural fandom in Season *13.* It’s never too late 🙂
I wandered into the A-Team fandom 20 years after it was cancelled. I never understood the mentality of being ‘too late’ to a fandom to contribute. It’s the late comers who keep it going, keep it fresh and interesting and offer new perspectives as well as reigniting the old excitement. There’s no expiration date on enjoying something.
Forget the Myers-Briggs fucking personality assessment. I am dead tired of hearing if someone is an INFP or an ESLQ or whatever. I want to know if someone is melancholic or choleric. Bring back the four humors. I wanna see “Kaley, 16, phlegmatic” when I go to someone’s blog. Who is with me. Lets make this happen

7/19/18: All assistance would be appreciated. Things have been really flipping tricky, and the news I got today has just made it worse. I am struggling to not lose my electricity, doctor, meds, and ability to eat.
7/24/18:
*waves* hello all.
At this moment it’s been a day since there has been any donations. I appreciate the money that has already been sent as it paid for the past due medical bills and trash removal.
I am now focused on getting the electricity paid, that way I don’t have to worry about keeping my food fresh or my pets comfortable by keeping the house at or under 80 degrees.
It is my hope that I can raise the money sooner than later so I can start focusing on raising money to have my broken tooth removed as I had another piece chip off last night after I touched it wrong with the soft tip tooth brush.

7/24/18:
I did my errands, got home and took a nap because I wasn’t feeling good. Errands tend to drain me off all energy. I woke up to a phone call from the phone company telling me the bill has bounced and my phone will be shut off in 2 days. So I also looked at the bank account and there are flipping overdraft fees and a return fee. Apparently I was 10 cents short. Rather than just pay it and charge me the fee, they paid the part that was there, charged me the fee, and the bounced it back. So my simple $120 bill (I was behind, this was supposed to catch it up) is now $210.
As someone with problems standing, I need to have a phone for safety reasons. As I help care for my ma who had a stroke, I need to have a phone so if something happens to her she can let me know (she lives next door).
I hate to have to ask, but can everyone re-boost this and if you have anything at all you can donate, please, please, please do.
At this moment, there isn’t a lot to update on. I got paid for last months errands, money that was supposed to go towards the internet but is being used for the phone instead. I still need to come up with $140. I’ve spent most the day sleeping with a migraine, as the one from yesterday hasn’t quite faded.

*waves tiredly* Hellos all, After spending yet another day sleeping, my migraine is fully gone and I am more awake then I have been since it started. I ended up using the trash bill money for the phone, so I am back to trying to get the money together for the trash removal and electrical bill.
Any an all help, particularly sharing with people, is vastly appreciated. It means more than words can express what you wonderful people have already done.

Evening Folks
I hope this finds you all doing well.
I did some errands this morning, paid the medical bill in person, picked up a little food for the house, and am exhausted again.
There hasn’t been any activity on here in the last two days, however I have had a few books pre-ordered, though nowhere near enough for the bills.
If you can, I would appreciate it if you wonderful folks could share this with others.
Seeing John Mulaney do his ‘Robot Test’ bit has given me a strong desire to see him play a live action Riddler.
But not like, as any character other than John Mulaney? Like, let’s make a John Mulaney version of Edward Nigma. Just this socially awkward disaster man who somehow becomes a supervillain because of a misunderstanding he couldn’t correct without ‘seeming rude’. And now supposedly he’s committed to killing Batman but he doesn’t actually want to be the cause of a man’s death so he just obfuscates things with ‘clues’ and ‘riddles’ and ‘battles of wits’ until Batman inevitably defeats him and he’s just like ‘oh thank god please don’t hit me’.
Batman’s like ‘you need help Nigma’ and he’s just like ‘yeah that’s fair, I should probably look into seeing somebody at this point, I became a supervillain because of social anxiety and that might just be a red flag you know?’
“Hey, Batman, think you’ve seen everything, huh? Well, figure out how to deal with this! You know Gotham General Hospital? Yeah? Well you’ll never guess what I let loose in there!”
