i have this headcanon that by the time all of her grandchildren were born molly weasley was knitting more christmas sweaters than she ever thought possible but still she kept knitting

and one day fleur is looking over the christmas photos from last year and notices that every single person is wearing a weasley christmas sweater… except molly

so that year molly opens her christmas presents from bill, fleur and the kids and there’s a hand-crocheted sweater with an “M” on it from her daughter-in-law don’t fucking look at me

Oh jeez. My heart.

Friendly reminder that 1200 calories is the recommended amount for a 5 year old

this hit me.

another fact is that 500 calories isn’t even enough for a new born.

why did I go so long convinced that going over 500 in a day was the end of the world?

Another friendly reminder that the United States used 1,000 calorie diets as torture for political prisoners and justified it using the diet industry.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/04/17/bush-torture-memos-commer_n_188190.html

In a footnote to a May 10, 2005, memorandum from the Office of Legal Council, the Bush attorney general’s office argued that restricting the caloric intake of terrorist suspects to 1000 calories a day was medically safe because people in the United States were dieting along those lines voluntarily.

“While detainees subject to dietary manipulation are obviously situated differently from individuals who voluntarily engage in commercial weight-loss programs, we note that widely available commercial weight-loss programs in the United States employ diets of 1000 kcal/day for sustain periods of weeks or longer without requiring medical supervision,” read the footnote. “While we do not equate commercial weight loss programs and this interrogation technique, the fact that these calorie levels are used in the weight-loss programs, in our view, is instructive in evaluating the medical safety of the interrogation technique.”

Another another friendly reminder that the Minnesota Starvation Experiment subjected adult men who were VOLUNTEERS to 1,560 calorie diets and the psychological effects were so profound that one volunteer cut three of his own fingers off and could not remember why.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnesota_Starvation_Experiment

These men were volunteers who knew exactly what they would be going through and when it would end, and who believed they were doing it for a good and moral reason (the research was used to help rehabilitate victims of starvation and famine at the end of WWII).

And these are the things we are expected to engage in FOREVER to stay at a “healthy” weight.

Reading about the Minnesota Starvation experiment was my wake-up call.  It was what kicked me out of my eating disorder.  The guy missing three fingers, whatever his name was, he was the last straw for me.

Scared me so fucking bad I stopped restricting my food that day, and never went back to it.

Just bringin’ this back around like I sometimes do.

Wow. This really hit me hard.

EAT

Fun fact– calorie restriction exacerbates symptoms of pretty much *every* mental illness.

Anorexia has ~16% mortality rate, slightly higher than acted upon suicidal ideation. It’s more lethal than actively trying to kill oneself and this is why.

I’ve tried to do this kind of thing before, but for my own mental health, I think it’s worth trying again.

If you guys could signal boost this, I will be forever grateful, because right now my world has been looking pretty grim. Going back into retail was a necessary evil but it hasn’t been very kind to me.

Right now, I’m just asking for some stability.

I’ve raised $15 so far, which is $15 dollars closer to my goal.

Please keep in mind part of this is so I can spend more time working on art and writing – so if you like my work, please consider donating. If you can’t donate, that’s okay. A signal boost means everything.

This is ultimately for my mental health, as well as my own financial stability. I just watched my paycheck get swallowed up by debt payments, with just barely enough to pay bills and groceries. Things like doctor’s appointments have been shoved to the side while I try to keep my head above water. I use whatever kind of extra money that I have to make sure my dogs are taken care of or my car will still run so I can get to work and have been letting my own health fall on the back burner.

So when I say that I really need to get out of this debt soon, it’s not something I’m saying lightly.

So please, any help will do. I really appreciate it. Thank you.

Thank you guys so much for the help so far. I really appreciate the boosts.

It looks kind of hopeless right now, but I know that everyone is struggling, so I don’t want to give up completely just yet. I’m still going to try.

I’m at a slight disadvantage because this and Instagram is really the only social media platforms I use, so that gives me a very small stage to spread the word. But that’s okay – I just have to try to keep moving.

I’ve been quiet for the last few days. Pimping out new artwork and trying to get back into doing more traditional stuff has given your dashboards a bit of a break.

But I still could use help.

The day I set this Gofundme up was the day I had a breakdown. I’m still riding the depression roller coaster and I can’t seem to get off of it. All of my energy for the past few months has been mostly concentrated on just getting out of bed so I can go to work. Anything else I’ve done, I’ve had to wrestle out of me with a LOT of effort and I can’t keep calling off on days I can’t get my brain to stop.

Hey guys, so we’re reaching almost three weeks of this, and while I’ve gained a little money, I’m still no where near my goal.

I really need to find a doctor. I just spent the day taking a three hour nap because I am in so much pain from work. If nothing else, I need to make an eye appointment because it’s been embarrassingly long since my last one and my glasses have started to give me mild headaches.

Life has been not great, but I keep moving forward. If you guys could continue to help me spread the word, that would be fantastic.

The struggle continues. I was able to chip a little away at my car payment with what I’ve got so far, so there’s that. I’m off today so I’m using it to do some much needed relaxing after a really hectic week.

Please continue to share, I would appreciate it so much.

I JUST learned that this shirt cost them $10,000 to put into this movie… but they refused to compromise because they were like: he’s the hugest Golden Girls fan… this has to make the movie… so they paid $10,000 to use Bea Arthur’s likeness on this shirt…  Ryan Reynolds, you’re doing Deadpool so right.

They traded all the guns in the final climactic showdown for Bea Arthur’s face. Worth it.

Reynolds paid it himself, out of pocket. It didn’t come from the budget. He talked with Bea’s sons and they agreed to it for a donation to Bea’s favorite charity. ☺️

I did not know that. That’s so much better than I could have imagined.

“Millennials are killing this industry!”

Nope. You’re a capitalist, and capitalism runs on supply and demand. Your industry not adapting to our needs or not providing anything we need or want is part of that supply and demand equation. Previous generations didn’t “kill the chariot” industry because cars became a more viable and faster way of travel.

The “killing industries” articles are a way for these corporations to play victim and pretend that their complete uselessness in the modern age – like diamonds in jewelry – is a problem caused by consumers rather than taking responsibility for their products failing to sell for numerous reasons.
