Saying there’s a sex panic on the grounds that women don’t like having their asses grabbed is the 2017 way of calling women frigid. In the 1950s, the woman who slapped a man’s face for an unwanted grope was mocked for not being sexually open, for being uptight. Now she’s accused of participating in a “sex panic.” But it’s all the same thing across the generations: When women stand up to say “keep your hands off of me” there’s a good chance they’ll be called prudes. Saying there’s a sex panic is a fancy way of saying that women’s bodies don’t completely belong to them the way their cars do. Someone can damage a woman’s car in a very small way, and insurance companies take it seriously and pay for the repair. She owns that car, and has every right to protect it. But if someone grabs her butt without her permission, she needs to lighten up. What is she, a frigid bitch?

Fun fact

Native Americans weren’t allowed US citizenship until 1924.

Let that sink in. We lived here first…for thousands of years. And less than a hundred years ago we were finally given citizenship.

We also fought in WWI despite not being US citizens.

In Arizona, natives weren’t granted the right to vote until 1948. Think how that type of neglect ties into resource colonization as infrastructure was developed within years prior.

In addition: the indigenous peoples of Canada were not recognized as Human Beings until the year 1960.
Now let that shit sink in.

In the US it wasn’t until 1968 that the Indian Civil Rights Act was passed and allowed for the right to freedom of speech / assembly / press, a jury trial, the right to an attorney etc. It’s so fucking frustrating.

and it wasn’t until 1978 that we were legally allowed to practice our own religions. in a nation founded on religious freedoms, it was illegal to practice our own religions. in our own country. how fucked up is that?

Aaaand Native Americans weren’t entitled to their own languages (had no legal rights to teach them in their schools, use them in business) until the Native American Language Act of 1990.

I teach this to my students, because NONE of it is in a single textbook. This is and act of indoctrination

Boosting because I didn’t know any of this.

These facts should be known by all.

Indigenous Australians were still classified under “Flora and Fauna” until 1967.  Just in case any Australians think we’re exempt from this shame.

Unfriendly, in your face reminder that there are straight trans people and they do not have to tell you they’re trans in order to be included in the community. See a “het couple” at pride?? Shut the fuck up about it. They could be bi, pan, trans, etc etc.

Asking someone to disclose if they’re trans is rude as fuck. Don’t do it. You are NOT entitled to know someone’s sexual orientation or assigned at birth gender.

Ways to tell if somebody doesn’t belong at Pride:

1) they’re harassing the other people there

2) they’re in acute medical distress, in which case they belong at a hospital instead, and can come back to Pride when they feel better

…that’s about all I can think of, really.

3) they are a lion with a confused expression, in which case they may be in the wrong type of pride and need a lift home. Or maybe not! Maybe it is just their first time at pride and they’ll be fine.

I achieved my 2017 goal of posting at least 12 things on my AO3 they weren’t all big things, but I definitely finished/added to some WIPs that had been sitting around a long time.

I posted multiple things each month through April then got crazy busy with work and my family and didn’t post again until November, but still, on average, I did meet the goal.

As of the start of 2018, I have 69 fics started in my google drive and I think at least 3 more on my phone. I am going to keep my writing goal the same, to post at least an average of at least one thing a month. It could be a chapter to a WIP or it could be a whole new fic, but at least 12 for the year. If there is any work you’d particularly like to see me work on, message me here. I can attempt to steer the muse that direction. Same if you have a prompt you’d like me to attempt. Feed the muse.

not 2 be a buzzkill or whatever but the “white women suffer under patriarchy too so women of color need to calm down and stop criticizing us!” is just a slightly modernized rehash of suffragette-era rhetoric designed to keep black people from speaking up

yes! it is the same bs that caused “the lavender purge” which dumped wlw out the feminist movement too. So black wlw were extra screwed. It sucks and people keep trying this shit.
