Republicans continue to rob the poor to give to the rich. Tax cuts for millionaires, banks, and big businesses. More “trickle down economics” for everyone else.

And coincidentally, Republicans are trying to kill the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. The agency that helps consumers to not get ripped off by greedy banks. Like Bank of America.

2018 Midterm elections are right around the corner. Make sure you get registered to vote. And stop banking with Donald Trump’s Bank of America. Join a credit union.

White racists pulling the “Wakanda as an absolute monarchy that doesn’t share its secrets is so fucking problematic” card as a “gotcha” to excuse their antiblack racism or get one over on Black fans of the film (“how can you be anti blah blah blah if you like this problematic country”) is beyond annoying.

Where’s the insipid commentary on how monarchies are bad related to Thor and Asgard, hmm? No one had a problem with absolute monarchies until Black people were running one.

All these fuckers parrot about Wakanda sounds like it comes straight from white supremacist handbooks and it’s so transparent considering a fictional monarchy run by black people in Africa is basically a tipping point for them and their anger.

It’s the same hypocritical bullshit of this person going “I’m not going to pay to watch Black Panther because they are exploiting Shuri who’s a minor” when they didn’t boycott Civil War or Spiderman Homecoming despite Peter being exploited by Tony in both movies. They really think they are being subtle with this crap but they are not.

Asgard/Odin literally conquered other planets and shit and committed genocide but noooo they don’t care.

My lumbar puncture procedure was a big failure. Which means, not only are my muscles still sore from being repeatedly stabbed with a needle in my back and abdomen, but I wasn’t able to get the test done that I went in for. So now I’m back to doing referrals and tests and procedures, which has me travelling all over the city while we try to pin down a diagnosis. It gets expensive for me, so I am putting out my tin cup to ask for small donations.

My Ko-Fi account is here: http://ko-fi.com/A4027SH  One Ko-Fi donation equals one bus trip to see a doctor! If you aren’t able to drop some change in my cup, I would appreciate it if you could reblog this.

Coming up soon, I have another round of tests on my eyes, another MRI on my brain, and an MRI on my thoracic region to see if the tumour on my spine has grown.

A note about preferred pronouns and names

I had a boss who’s legal name was Marvin. His middle name was Scott. He asked everyone at work to call him Scott. People who knew him as Marvin slipped up and called him that sometimes, but he preferred to be called Scott. His employees and peers respected that request. HR respected that request and changed his name in our systems and in his email. It became his name because he asked it to be.

People make the argument that they “just can’t” call trans people by anything other than their deadname because that’s how they know them. Still others will go a step further and say that your self-expression infringes on their rights somehow.

It doesn’t. It’s common decency. Sure mistakes happen; but when someone asks to be called by a particular name, we respect that. If you can do it for cis people, you can do it for trans people.

As someone who headcanons Harry Potter to be of Indian descent it pleases me to think that his name is actually Hari, and that Aunt Petunia just Anglicized it because foreigners.

According to the interwebs, ‘Hari’ is a Sanskrit name meaning… Lion.

So yeah. Hari the mixed race savior of the Wizarding World.

Progress on Padme’s lake dress

The underdress is made from silk satin and the outer dress from chiffon. The underdress is a simple backless dress with a full skirt, and is fastened at the neck with ribbon. The overdress is a loop that is gathered at the front, back and sleeves. The arm cuffs are there to hold the chiffon in place. I ombré dyed both layers with yellow, pink, purple and blue dye to give the sunset effect. I sewed silk ribbon onto the top and bottom border of the chiffon, and down the centre. At the front the chiffon is bunched at the bottom too. At the back I made a mother of pearl brooch with glass beads attached.

The necklace and armbands were made from black worbla, shaped with heat and painted gold. I then added some mother of pearl over the top, which looks really shiny and pretty in the light

Now all that’s left is the crazy seashell wig, wish me luck! 😭

Holy /shit/ you look gorgeous????!!!

I’ve been DREAMING about having this dress since I saw it in the movie.

Daaaamn, that’s pretty.
