I get very emotional about John Watson sometimes.

He wants to be a good man so much, and he wants to love, but he’s always fighting everything in himself, and it makes him angry and mean and that is the opposite of what he wants to be.

and sherlock sees that, I think.  But john can’t let go.  he just can’t be himself, and he’s hurting himself and everyone around him because of that.

it’s terrible when you can’t live your truth, or be yourself.  it’s horrible when you hate yourself so much that you can’t bring yourself to be that, beause really you would be os much happier if you would be yourslef, but you can’t see that.

poor john

i wish he would let go and let himself love and be true and real.

these two little girls came into work today, both black, both with their hair in space buns. and i went “you guys look like a princess i know” and they sighed and went “tiana?” because they were so use to being compared to the only black princess and i went “no. shuri” and omg, the oldest one lit up like a christmas tree. she was like “shuri is my favorite! no one believes she’s a princess!”

this is why representation matters

UPDATE:  The girls came back in yesterday after school got out and I was off. They had their hair in braids and I did the Wakanda salute to them and went “Princesses” and they did it back and went “Ma’am” and I love these girls. Their parents looked so happy omg

Why in the word would you need a license just to braid hair?

image

Braiding hair is a part of black culture lmao. Doing other black women’s natural hair period is a part of our culture?? We don’t need a license it’s in our roots….this is extremely anti black.

They don’t even teach how to do black hair in most hair schools anyway, why get a license from a school that doesn’t even teach you about braiding anyway??

This is a way to target black business owners, smh

my hair stylist actually told me that in cosmetology schools, they are not taught how to do natural hair. there is no way to get a license doing natural hair in many places because curriculum do not even teach them. like, natural hair isn’t taught in these schools.

so black women have to learn from their mothers, grand mothers, aunts, etc…etc…it’s a culture.
so yeah, this is to target black business owners.

^^^^

As a Cosmetologist I can actually say that You all need to fight this tooth and nail. We need to either fight to get it taught in the Cosmetology schools or we need to get it so that you all can get a braiding licence where you have to prove that you know the sanitation laws that salon owners have to follow.

Hell, just keep doing it illegally. Just don’t call your self a braiding parlor or better yet do it out of y’all’s home and if the state people come knocking say you ain’t doing it for money.
That’s how some of us legal stylists do shit on the fucking side… Like me.

HELP THIS AMAZING QUEER FILM GET MADE!

TO MY LGBTQIA+ PEEPS! Besties Make Movies and the awesome @marzapproved are making a movie about asexuality representation!

There’s this AMAZING film, 2 WEEKS, that needs your help getting funded. It’s a haunting film set in the entertainment world, and loosely based on Marzy’s own experiences of discovering her asexuality, the isolation and the othering she feels as an asexual. It’s haunting film, a la Get Out, designed to spark conversation, and the kind of film that will empower asexuals who are feeling the same way, using all races and genders to shape the story and world of the film.

CHECK OUT MORE ABOUT IT HERE!

Here’s the SYNOPSIS of the film:

2 WEEKS accompanies Tanya, a 20-something, asexual. She is struggling to find a balance between honoring her sexuality, the commitment she made when she fell in love with her partner, and pursuing a career in an industry that perpetuates women’s worth based on sex appeal. With has no place to escape, Tanya starts to drown. While Tanya’s immediate circle is woke to sexual empowerment, her friends cannot relate to a person who is comfortable living without sex. In 2 WEEKS we see Tanya arrive at her second coming out.

THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO DONATE AND GET INVOLVED

The film also has a WISHLIST of items that can be fulfilled if you aren’t able to donate money.

So be sure to check it out and help out however you can. This is such an important project, the kind of representation we all need and deserve.

THANKS!

Can i get a step by step on how to do this?

So far for me it’s been something like:

1. Become aware of how and when you tearing yourself down.

2. Now that you can catch yourself doing it. Offer counters to the negative self talk. A really useful thing I read was to talk to yourself almost the way you would child. Gentle and patient. Even when they fuck up.

3. Take time to celebrate your small accomplishments. You’ve been attacking yourself for every little mistake. Apply that same fervor to the positive things in your life. Did the dishes even though you didn’t want to? Fuck yeah! Got up and took shower? YES!!! You are taking positive steps to feeling better. Celebrate it.

4. Make lists of things you’re good at/ like about yourself. The first time I did this the only two things in my list we’re that I liked my hair and I had good friends. It was start.

5. Don’t beat yourself up if you screw up steps 1-4. It’s counter productive. When I catch myself calling my self stupid for some mistake or other my response now is,“We don’t talk to ourselves like that anymore. What’s something constructive that could actually help solve the problem.”

Most of the time that seems to work. Not always. But more and more Everytime.

I hope any of that made sense.

This is great advice @catastrofries

Sincerely, this is the best advice. It’s easy to dismiss it and say “That would never help!” but, like, if you try it, you might be surprised.
