Also, I was listening to the Rocky Horror soundtrack whilst doing this (a subconscious choice but a perfect one) and this song made me think of Frank on the stage at the end of the film and thus inspired the kind of spotlight effect I was going for (that may not have worked quite as I wanted).
I have a fic that I want to write, but I feel like every chapter installment would be short. I have nothing against short fics myself, but I have this weird guilt complex about short fics being less good than long ones? I’d just like some advice/ reassurance. I just can’t really draw out these scenes, if that makes any sense?

It’s not the length that matters, it’s the impact.
I think Peter grew up in a time and place where it was not safe to be a gay man, particularly a sexually active gay man, so any boyfriends he had would come later in life, and he’d be very paranoid about sexual safety. I imagine he’s been to a few rural gay bars in his life, chatted up his share of handsome and scruffy strangers and been chatted right back. I like to think he had a long-term partner, now ex, for a few short but good years, until societal pressure and a significant difference of opinion regarding whether to be out or not eventually broke them apart.
But as someone who keeps himself to himself, I think Peter’s dating / sex-life was pretty nonexistent for a couple years before he met Marcus, barring the occasional disappointing visit to a gay or leather bar.
(And I think he would love having a good Catholic boy to settle down with. Good Catholic boys would’ve been considered charmingly off-limits to him growing up, and now he’s got one with a leather jacket and a crooked smile and the sweetest baby-blue eyes.)

Instead of acting like it’s witchcraft that Ubi’s changing it’s tune, you can thank the women and other minorities working inside gaming companies that endure being called names by all of you lot AND being treated like crap by their own coworkers and still keep persistently trying to push for change inside their company.
They work tirelessly despite getting shit from absolutely everyone, gamers, co-workers and internet trolls alike.
